KLcube Introduces AI Sign Language Service at Seoul Medical Center to Improve Accessibility

KLcube has introduced its AI-based sign language guidance service and real-time sign language interpretation support at Seoul Medical Center, helping improve hospital accessibility for people with hearing disabilities.
This project was carried out as part of Seoul’s “Testbed Seoul” initiative, with the goal of reducing communication barriers and improving access to medical services for deaf and hard-of-hearing patients.
The service includes QR code-based sign language guidance and 3D sign language avatar kiosks installed throughout the hospital. Patients can easily access information about hospital facilities such as registration desks, payment counters, admission and discharge offices, health check-up centers, and examination rooms through natural sign language videos.
In addition, KLcube’s “HandSignTalkTalk” platform provides a three-way video call interpretation service. When needed, patients can instantly connect with a sign language interpreter through the app, allowing hospital staff, the interpreter, and the patient to communicate together in real time during consultations and administrative procedures.
Previously, patients often had to book an interpreter in advance or visit the hospital with one. This new service allows immediate access whenever communication support is needed, making hospital visits much more convenient.
A KLcube representative said, “For hearing-impaired patients, the biggest challenge in hospitals is not simply finding information, but real-time communication during medical consultations. By combining AI sign language avatars with live interpretation services, we are creating a more practical and accessible healthcare environment.”
The company added that it plans to expand AI sign language services beyond healthcare into public services, finance, transportation, and other everyday sectors to create a more inclusive digital environment for everyone.
